Jamaat-e-Islami is a movement for the establishment of Islam (Iqamat-e-Deen). It was founded by the Islamic thinker Syed Abul A’la Maududi (RA) on August 26, 1941, in Lahore. Starting with just 73 individuals and limited resources, this caravan has now grown into millions. Its impact is felt not only in Pakistan but also across the world. Islamic movements in various countries have benefited from the thoughts and philosophy of Syed Maududi (RA).
To adopt Islam as a complete code of life, Jamaat-e-Islami presents the true picture of Islam to the people so that the importance of following Islamic teachings in all aspects of life becomes clear to them. Jamaat-e-Islami is constantly striving to prepare individuals of integrity and capability who can implement the just system of Islam given by Allah and His Messenger (PBUH). These individuals should not only be responsible citizens but also possess righteousness and competence. They should believe in promoting a democratic political system, a just economic system, protection of human rights, and provision of facilities to all Pakistani citizens beyond the distinctions of religion, sect, language, or region.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s contributions in Pakistan are significant and widely acknowledged — from the struggle for the Islamic system, approval of the Objectives Resolution, the movement for the Finality of Prophethood, formulation and approval of the Constitution of Pakistan, to the unity of the Muslim Ummah and public service.
The party has played a prominent role in protecting the ideological and geographical boundaries of the country, promoting Islamic values, implementing the Islamic way of life, and striving to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state.
